OPTIMUM STANDARD GAIN HORNS
These standard gain horns are designed to be used as
calibrated standards in the field of antenna design and development. The
units can be used as illuminating antennas as well as for receiving. The
unknown gain of an antenna can be quickly and accurately determined by
comparison with the appropriate model standard gain horn.
These horns are optimum horns; they provide an optimum length of flare
for the specified gain. A smooth transition of the flared surfaces to the
waveguide section insures low VSWR's over the entire waveguide band and
eliminates unwanted modes. Gain variation at band-edge frequencies is less
than 1.5 dB from the nominal value. A gain curve chart is provided with
each instrument. Beam width in both planes is approximately 30
degrees. Alternate flanges are available. See flange section.
Finish is instrument gray enamel.
